Student Spotlight - Melissa Williams

Meet Melissa Williams ‘11 . . .Melissa Williams

Melissa has been at Central for just two years, but will graduate in May, 2011. Melissa took advantage of dual credit course offered at Smithton, her hometown high school. She has taken some online classes as well. Melissa has a double major in English and Communications.

Melissa visited CMU a few years ago, when her sister Laura Williams Goss ’09 was attending CMU. Melissa decided on CMU because she was familiar with it-along with it being close to home, but not too close.

Melissa is very active here at CMU. She is a member of Sigma Pi Alpha, Sigma Tau Delta, and Alpha Lambda Delta. She is also a Peer-to- Peer tutor, Admissions Ambassador, CMU blogger, co-editor of Inscape and a phonathon caller.

Melissa likes the size of CMU. She values the relationships that she has formed, not just with her fellow students. She values the relationships that she has formed with her professors, as well, too. She feels she wouldn’t have had these personal relationships with her professors, if she would have gone to a larger school.

Melissa would like a few things to change at CMU. She would like to see additional parking, more options for residential life, and religious life stressed more.

Her dream job, after graduation, would be an editor for a magazine, perhaps a bridal magazine. Melissa wouldn’t have been able to pursue her dreams without the financial assistance she received here at CMU. She receives an Academic Excellence Scholarship, and the William Armine and Veta Groce Meyer Presidential Halls of Sponsors.
